Choosing the Right Accommodation in Protaras: Hotel, Apartment or Villa?
When planning a vacation in the Cypriot coastal resort of Protaras, it’s important to choose the right accommodation. Fortunately, Protaras has a wide variety of hotels, apartments and villas from which to pick – it’s simply a case of choosing the most suitable accommodation for you and your fellow travellers.
If you’re travelling on a tight budget, you’ll find plenty of reasonably priced Protaras hotels close to the resort centre. The main Protaras strip is surrounded by affordably priced three-star hotel accommodation with facilities you’d generally expect to find in more expensive leisure resorts and spa hotels. With spacious outdoor pools, lush gardens, tennis courts and kid’s clubs, selecting a keenly priced hotel in the resort doesn’t necessarily mean compromising on the quality of your lodgings.
If you’re prepared to stay a short distance from the resort centre, you’ll find holiday accommodation is even more affordable in the neighbouring coastal villages of Kapparis and Pernera.
Both villages are a comfortable stroll from Protaras high street but offer substantial savings on hotel, apartment and villa prices. You’ll also find that the villages benefit from a host of holiday amenities and are serviced by their own tidy selection of bars, restaurants and superb beaches.
If your perfect holiday involves plenty of relaxation in a peaceful environment, a Protaras villa is the obvious choice. Although generally the most expensive option, villa holidays offer unparalleled privacy, luxury and comfort. Villas basically represent a home away from home – though often a much fancier home than that to which you are accustomed!
With spacious rooms, a number of bedrooms and multiple bathrooms, Protaras villas are particularly suitable for large groups and families.
When relaxing inside a Protaras villa you’ll have free reign over the TV – frequently with satellite channels – DVD player and stereo system. When enjoying the garden area, you can take a dip in the private pool, prepare kebabs on the barbecue or top up a tan on your very own personal sun lounger.
Though far from remote, most villas in Protaras are located approximately a mile or so from the resort centre. Although not ideal for all holidaymakers, being a short distance from the busy main strip can certainly have its advantages, particularly for those seeking peace and serenity during a vacation.
Protaras apartments are perhaps the ideal compromise between a hotel and a villa. Generally more affordable than a private villa but with far greater freedom than a hotel room, holiday apartments represent a reliable middle ground.
As with villas, holiday apartments benefit from a fitted kitchen and a number of white goods that can lighten many of the more practical vacation burdens. Having access to a private kitchen helps to avoid the repetitiveness of constantly eating out and will also allow you to save a fair amount of money on food costs. It’s also handy to have ready access to a washing machine, particularly on extended stays of over a week.
Holiday apartments can also feel far less isolated than a villa. By sharing a communal pool and other outdoor facilities, holidaymakers have the opportunity to meet fellow travellers on a daily basis, whilst children in particular can enjoy finding new playmates by the poolside.
Wherever you choose to stay in Protaras, you’re sure to find the locals very accommodating and the coastline setting rather enchanting. With over 320 days of sunshine every year, it’s unlikely that you’ll want to spend too much time cooped up inside your accommodation. Still, with so many options available no matter your budget, group size or requirements, there’s every chance you’ll find the right accommodation for a memorable Mediterranean getaway.
